In our continuing efforts to keep our operation streamlined and to deal
effectively with budget constraints, the Foundation staff has identified
several areas where we believe you can be of help.
Monitoring Foundation Land Projects
Our Foundation now holds stewardship responsibility for twenty
easements, and holds fee title to six additional properties. Each needs
to be monitored at least once per year. The Foundation is preparing a
training session that will give you the background and understanding
needed to assist us by visiting these properties, and preparing the
appropriate reports.
Identifying Sources of Support
Are you aware of individuals, organizations, or businesses that may be
interested in the Foundation’s work? We need to know about them!
Presenting Programs that Enhance Visibility
Do you have specialized knowledge and experience in areas like botany,
entomology, forestry, or other life sciences; outdoor photography,
orienteering, canoeing, rock climbing, or hiking? The Foundation wants
to encourage our growing membership to visit our land projects and to
bring their friends – other potential members – to see Tennessee’s
treasures and support our work.
Identifying Sources of Recognition Gifts
Do you know an artisan or craftsman/woman who produces something
special? Tennessee artists are particularly favored.

Gifts by Credit Card or Bank
Draft
We offer members
and supporters a convenient way to make regular donations in monthly or
quarterly installments, or as a one-time gift billed to their
Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover
card. You can designate your contribution for specific
projects or it can go into the general fund to be used where it's most
needed.
In addition, we
can now process
contributions by monthly bank draft. There is a $10 per monthly minimum
for this option. For more information and
instructions, please contact
Patricia VornDick at
(615) 386-3171.
Gifts can also be made through our
secure
PayPal
account. We can accept Visa,
MasterCard, American Express, Discover, debit cards and e-checks.

Gifts of Appreciated Assets
Any appreciated asset,
such as stock or land, that is donated to the Foundation qualifies for a
federal tax deduction and avoids the tax on capital gains while you
receive a tax deduction for the current value at the time of the
donation.

Gifts of Land
Gifts
of land may come to our Foundation in two categories: those which are
important conservation lands, which will be directly added to
Tennessee's open space heritage, and those which can be sold or traded
so that the proceeds can help protect critical open space. Either
type of land is a valuable gift to us. If its value has risen over
time, land gifts are considered an appreciated asset and the beneficial
tax treatment described above can apply. If you have property that
you would like to consider donating, please contact
Dianne Naff at (615) 386-3171 or
by email:
landacq@earthlink.net to discuss your options.

Volunteer
Opportunities
We know it takes more
than just a dedicated board of directors and a hard-working staff to
accomplish our mission, vision, and goals. Much of our success is due to
the strong working relationships and partnerships with others. Because
we have a lean staff, we depend on the services of volunteers. We offer
a wide range of volunteer opportunities for individuals, groups,
families, teenagers and adults from helping out at special events and
leading hikes to trail building and maintenance to assisting in the
office or even serving as a board member or advisor. Please contact
Steve Walsh (615) 386-3171 or by email:

Bequests, Charitable Remainder Unitrusts, and Other
Planned Gifts
Many planned gifts may
not be directly applicable to purchase land or fund immediate projects.
However, because our Foundation does have an existing Land Fund, it may
be possible to use irrevocable bequest intentions or charitable
remainder unitrusts as gifts for current or near term future projects.
Please call the Foundation (615-386-3171) or you may
fill out the Contact Information Form to discuss estate planning options.

Future Gifts Protect Tennessee's Legacy of Beauty
Bequests play an
important role in building future capital to protect and preserve the
beauty of Tennessee.
To make a bequest to
the Tennessee Parks and Greenways Foundation, we suggest the following
language:
I give the Tennessee Parks and Greenways
Foundation, a nonprofit organization, incorporated in Tennessee, and
having its principle offices at 1205-A Linden Avenue, Nashville, TN
37212, the sum of $_______________ (or, alternatively, __________
percent of the residuary of my estate), for its general purposes to
protect Tennessee's land and water.
For more information,
please call Steve Walsh at (615) 386-3171.
