CHRISTIE PETERSON HENDERSON
DIRECTOR OF LAND CONSERVATION
Christie (Peterson) Henderson is the Director of Land Conservation and has been with TennGreen since May 2012. She developed a love of the outdoors while growing up in West Tennessee. She spent many spring and summer nights identifying frog vocalizations with her family as part of the Tennessee Amphibian Monitoring Program. She followed her outdoor passion through college and holds an M.S. in Biology from Tennessee Technological University (TTU) where she focused her researched on avian diversity and richness in the presence of timber harvesting at Catoosa Wildlife Management Area. Prior to working at TennGreen, she worked as a research assistant at TTU and an agricultural assistant at the West TN Research and Education Center. She and her husband love to travel, hike, and spend time with their two cattledog mixes, Mogley and Murphy.
My Favorite Hiking Spot:
Colditz Cove State Natural Area is off Northrup Falls Road near Jamestown in Fentress County. The easy- to-moderate hike along Big Branch Creek ends at Northrup Falls. This lesser-used trail allows for a true natural experience. Plus you are near other wonderful parks and natural areas including Pickett State Park and Pogue Creek Canyon State Natural Area.
